October

Autumn is upon us her in the north. The days are growing shorter. The deciduous trees are displaying their colours. Soon they will be bare. At the end of the month we turn the clocks back. Not my favorite month. He are a few images I took today to give you an idea of what the middle of October is like here.

My feelings for September are ambivalent – the wonderful shades of Autumn soon to be painted over the landscape colour my frame of mind yet those same shades underscore that those long, summer evenings with their extended twilights have faded and winter is drawing close.

December

Yesterday was the winter solstice. The Sun has turned and the days will get longer (here in the northern hemisphere at least – you in the southern hemisphere have had your turn).

Last Sunday 23rd September day and night were of equal length. That was the Autumnal Equinox.

Autumn’s colours are becoming pronounced. The days are getting noticeably shorter. Winter approaches here in the northern hemisphere.

One of my favorite months because:

• nature has woken up
• the whole of summer is in front of us
• May has lots of free days here
• summer holidays are soon upon us
